The Thai-Austrian Society: Strengthening Bilateral Ties Through Culture and Community

Written by

The Thai-Austrian Society (TAS) is a non-profit organization established in 1985 to promote friendship and cultural exchange between Thailand and Austria. Headquartered in Bangkok, the society serves as a platform for Austrians living in Thailand and for Thais interested in Austrian culture, history, and business.

TAS regularly organizes social and cultural events that bring together members of both communities. These include annual highlights such as the Heuriger celebration and the Christmas Brunch, which are well-attended and also support charitable initiatives. For example, the 2024 Heuriger event successfully raised funds for the “Save the Children” foundation.

In addition to community events, TAS plays a role in diplomatic and cultural collaboration. It works closely with the Austrian Embassy and takes part in initiatives like the “Austrian Lifestyle Week,” which showcases Austrian food, fashion, and craftsmanship in Thailand.

Membership is open to anyone interested in joining the Thai-Austrian community. For a yearly fee, members gain access to events, receive updates, and have the opportunity to participate in networking and fundraising activities.
