Nestled in the rugged mountains near Mae Tang, Ban Mae Marm School serves as both an educational institution and a refuge for about 50 children aged 5 to 12. These students come from remote hill villages, where the journey to school means trekking several kilometers through dense jungle. For many, the school is more than a place of learning—it’s a temporary home where they stay for weeks at a time, or even over a month during the relentless rainy season.

A Harsh Reality for Young Students
Life at Ban Mae Marm is far from easy. The children face extreme conditions with few comforts:

Bone-chilling winters: Temperatures drop to 6°C (43°F), yet there is no hot water for showers in the freezing mornings.

Scarce resources: The school struggles with shortages of food and clean water. Most water for cooking, drinking, and washing is collected from rainwater or a nearby stream, leaving supplies unreliable.

A Ray of Hope: Solar Power and Support
Thanks to donations and leftover funds from the TAS event, two critical improvements are coming:

Solar-powered hot water system for Ban Mae Marm – Ending the icy morning showers.

Support for Ban Mar Toh School – A new electrical installation and rice supplies for students.

Why This Matters
For these children, education is their only path out of poverty—but survival comes first. The lack of basic necessities like warm water and steady meals makes learning even harder. With community support, these upgrades will bring dignity, safety, and a better chance at a future for students who endure so much just to attend school.
