Collaborations
Since its establishment in 1985, the Thai-Austrian Society (TAS) has played a pivotal role in fostering and strengthening the longstanding relationship between Thailand and Austria. Over the past four decades, the society has actively contributed to deepening mutual understanding and cooperation across various domains, serving as a bridge that connects individuals, businesses, and institutions from both nations. Through a wide range of initiatives, TAS has provided a vibrant platform for cultural exchange, educational collaboration, and economic partnerships, enabling people from diverse backgrounds to engage, learn, and contribute to the growth of Thai-Austrian relations.
By facilitating meaningful interactions, organizing events, and supporting projects that highlight the rich cultural heritage and shared values of both countries, TAS continues to create opportunities for collaboration. The society hosts cultural programs, academic partnerships, and networking events that bring together professionals, students, and community members. Through these efforts, TAS not only strengthens bilateral ties but also fosters a sense of community among Austrians, Thai individuals and othe nationalities with interest in Austria, ensuring a lasting and dynamic relationship between the two nations.

Dipl.-Ing. Caroline Braunshofer, MBA
Born in Linz and educated in Vienna, I left Austria in 2007 and moved to Bangkok with my family in 2015. The longer I’ve been away from Austria, the more I appreciate our culture—our food, wine, and, of course, Schnaps—our way of communicating, and our sense of Gemütlichkeit. I am passionate about networking and building communities because, as we say, “Beim Reden kommen die Leit zamm.” I also strongly believe that Austria and Thailand share many similarities and have much to learn from each other. Witchayanee Ocha,
a Thai Gender Specialist
An OeAD (Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation) Scholarship holder researching in gender, human rights and international development paradigms based at the University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria in 2018. This provided me opportunities to learn more about Austrian cultures which place a high value on politeness and respect in social interactions. I wish to be a part of the growth potential of TAS in exchanging experiences and support more for intercultural relationships. I’m very proud to be a part of TAS that value social responsibility, supporting charity projects especially for children and education. I would be thrilled to be a part of TAS that contribute and return back to communities which make a positive difference in someone’s life. Read More

All my life I was active in connecting people, no matter where I was located. When I moved 2022 for various reasons to Thailand, it was somehow a logic development that I was asked to join the board of TAS! For me TAS is a great basis for an Austrian friendship organisation to develop new contacts and friends and at the same time do something good with charity projects. Read More

As a hotelier and passionate host, I take pride in organizing some of the most memorable TAS events—always with heart, fun, and just the right touch of flair. Whether I’m behind the scenes or holding the mic for a speech, I’m proud to be one of the Society’s biggest supporters and to help create moments our community won’t forget.

I’ve been part of TAS for many years, including serving as President during a very active time. As a passionate Austrian at heart, I’ve always enjoyed promoting our culture and traditions—especially through good wine, which I proudly support as a sponsor. TAS has always been close to me as a space where friendships grow, ideas are exchanged, and our shared heritage is celebrated.

Michael Schmeiser
As Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in Bangkok, I try to keep diplomacy smooth and the schnitzels crisp. A proud supporter of the Thai-Austrian Society, I’m always happy to help bridge nations—preferably over good food, better wine, and great company.

Nambus Sapthip
My name is Nambus Sapthip, and it is my honor to support TAS in the role of Secretary. I had the opportunity to study in Austria for three years, an experience that left a lasting impression on me both personally and professionally. After returning to Thailand, I felt a strong desire to stay connected with the Austrian community and contribute in any way I can. I am deeply committed to supporting the mission and activities of TAS, and I look forward to working closely with all members to strengthen the Thai-Austrian relationship and help achieve our shared goals. Somruedee Thaiphanit
In 2015, I had the opportunity to live in Austria for the first time as a Ph.D. exchange student conducting my research. During that time, I was deeply impressed by the beauty of the cities and the warm hospitality of the Austrian people. Beyond the research experience, Austria became a place where I built lasting friendships—with both Austrians and international friends. To my surprise, I even met fellow Thai people there, which made the experience feel even more like home. Upon returning to Thailand, I became an active member of the Thai-Austrian Society (TAS) and have since participated in many activities organized by the society. Through TAS, I have had the chance to connect with so many inspiring individuals from various sectors, including academia, business, and government. One day, I was honored to be invited to apply for a board member position in TAS. After being elected, I felt immense pride to serve in this role. These cumulative experiences and positive impressions have motivated me to initiate the Green-Edu-Seeds project under the ERASMUS-CBHE program, in collaboration with universities in Austria. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a meaningful and influential network. I truly wish for TAS to remain a strong and vibrant community for many years to come. Read More
